Actors, Authors & Artists Headshots
A headshot to an actor is like the camera to a photographer, you won't get far without one.
What happens in a headshot session?
We understand it's often difficult to make time to come to a studio so we make it easy and come to you. You'll be surprised by what we can do in a small office space. If you prefer to do it in studio that can be arranged as well.
A typical session lasts around an hour. We work out what type of imagery you're after and discuss things like what style or level of editing and photoshopping you'd like, if any. My style is 'less-is-more' as I never want my images to look like they've been photoshopped. I want you to look like you've had the best nights sleep in years, so I'll lessen bags under the eyes, remove pimples and temporary blemishes and reduce wrinkles but not remove them completely. The finished image still has to look like you in the end!
Next, we'll ease into getting you comfortable before firing away a few snaps. I'll show you how they're looking along the way, to check that you're happy with the images so far. It's very much a collaboration, trying different expressions, head tilts and angles. It's the attention to details that plays a big part here.
There are no caps to the number of images I take but usually it'll be around a hundred or so. Once we're satisfied we have the shots, I'll pack up and be on my way.
From there I'll edit down the images taking out the 'blinkies' and weird facial expressions, (nobody needs to see them) and upload the best images to a gallery for you to view and select which images you'd like. We have several pricing packages available depending on how many images you need. More details are listed down below. Once you've made your selection I'll complete the editing and upload the finished images to the gallery for you to download your purchased images from. This is normally completed in 3 days after the selection is made.
All there is left to do then is put them to work.
A good one will show the world who you are and set you apart from the crowd. It is your single most important marketing tool.
Some tips for your session.
Practice in front of a mirror, get to know how your face looks with different expressions.
Don't go crazy with makeup, a clean fresh face is best.
For actors and authors, your clothes should be simple, classy and not too busy. The emphasis should be on you, not your clothing choice. Think professional, solid colours and layers work well. Artists and performers, on the other hand, can be more creative with their wardrobe selection.
Give some thought to the background in your shots. If you're not sure what would be best I'm happy to offer some suggestions. For actors and authors, a blurry background works well and can be taken in most locations. You don't want a busy background behind you as it can take the focus off the subject. We can take care of this with selective camera settings. For artists and musicians, I'd recommend the opposite. Having some background included can offer some context to the shot.
